On Sunday morning seven EDAC members made the trip to Belfast Harbour estate area to take part in Athletics NIs Titanic 10k and 1k family fun run. This event always attracts a big crowd with a flat fast course, some runners may say this route is not the most scenic and may be a little boring, but with good conditions and it being the flattest 10k in N Ireland many runners aim for a PB and with the Belfast Marathon not to far away use it to gauge there progress. So with good conditions 762 runners started the looped route round the docks and harbour area.

The first EDAC runner to cross the finish line in 22nd position and with a new PB of 35 min 28 secs was Conaill MacNabb a get run and will have the bragging rights when he gets home with the quickest 10k in the MacNabb household.

The next PB was not too far behind as Adam Withers crossed the line in 24th position in 35 min 36 sec, Adams hard training is now paying off with a number of PBs in the past few months. Good things come in threes as the third PB of the day crossed the line, it was Matt Bezzants second race wearing the red and yellow and second race since moving to N Ireland and was pleased with his time off 37 min 14 sec and 39th position. Dee Murray, one of the Clubs stalwarts and always gives 100%, came across the line in 49th position in a time of 37 min 57 sec. Paul Lloyd who has been coming back from injury was happy with his effort of 41 min 26 sec in 111 position and he has cancelled his trip to the scrap heap for the moment.

Two EDAC ladies were on the start line for the 10k, Ladies captain Sharon Madine who has been having some great results recently had another strong performance with a time of 43 min 41 sec and in 153 position, Janine Murray who has been training hard for the London Marathon had a strong run with a time of 49 min 16 sec in 282 position and will be happy with her preparation for the big race. With some big races coming up it’s going to be a busy time in April for the club.
