Previously it was not compulsory for Coaches/Volunteers/Officials or Welfare Officers to attend a course, but this is changing with new recommendations from UK Athletics which will come into force in 2018, and all Welfare Officers and Coaches must have Safeguarding Training. ANI recommend to all clubs that they get all Coaches, Volunteers/Club Officials to attend a course. Once you have passed the you can renew online in 3yrs time and then again 3yrs after that – but the third time you have come back and do a course, so hopefully this will make it easier for Welfare Officers to stay up to date.
