Jog around the Bog in Peatlands Park on 25 April

Peatlands Poster A4-page-001

Below is a press release from Ally Bennett who I have been helping with the arrangements for the “Jog around the Bog” in Peatlands Park on 25 April, Clearly marked at Junction 13 on M1.  This is a really lovely location and is an ideal route for runners of all abilities – it’s flat, multi terrain with lots of boardwalks, tree lined avenues similar to the path at Quoile and plenty of springy turf paths as well – it’s not called the Peatlands Park for nothing  – distance about 5.5 miles.

I would appeal for a big turnout for what I think is an extremely worthy cause. For all our runners in Hill and Dale, it will be wee buns, similar conditions but no hills! And there will be sandwiches and more wee buns afterwards!!

Anyone running the London marathon next day is excused – though they can still enter online by way of donation!

I have organised the  “Jog around the Bog” a 5.5 mile, multi terrain race which takes place on 25th April in the scenic and beautiful Peatlands Park in Dungannon. to celebrate 30 years of Guide Dogs in Northern Ireland.

Just by way of some background: Guide Dogs is a local charity who aim to get people with a visual impairment out and about on their own terms. Although providing guide dogs is our core service, we understand that a dog is not for everyone, which is why we launched My Guide which matches a trained sighted guide volunteer to someone with a visual impairment in their local area, assisting them to get out and about and visit the places they want to regularly. This reduces the isolation faced by many people with sight loss. More recently Blind Children UK have become part of the Guide Dogs family, meaning that we can now help change the lives of those children, young people and their families living with sight loss to support their needs in any way we can and help give these children a brighter future.

I have attached the poster for our race in a few formats. Online registration is open at www.athleticsni.org until 22nd  April although on the day entries will be taken at a slightly increased fee.
